Word – How do I turn off automatic hyperlinks?

To turn off automatic hyperlinks, follow these steps, as appropriate for the version of Word that you are running:

  • In Microsoft Office Word 2007, follow these steps:
    1. Click the Microsoft Office Button, and then click Word Options.
    2. Click Proofing, and then click AutoCorrect Options.
    3. On the AutoFormat as you type tab and on the AutoFormat tab, click to clear the Internet and network paths with hyperlinks check box, and then click OK.
    4. Click OK to close the Word Options dialog box.
  • In Microsoft Office Word 2003 and in Microsoft Word 2002, follow these steps:
    1. On the Tools menu, click AutoCorrect Options.
    2. On the AutoFormat as you type tab and on the AutoFormat tab, click to clear the Internet and network paths with hyperlinks check box.
    3. Click OK.

Word – remove all hyperlinks in a document

To remove a single hyperlink without losing the display text or image, right-click the hyperlink, and then click Remove Hyperlink.

To remove all hyperlinks in a document, press CTRL+A to select the entire document and then press CTRL+SHIFT+F9.

Note Performing this operation converts all fields, not just hyperlinks, to plain text.

Fix a PST File Automatically With Outlook’s Inbox Repair Tool

From time to time, the .pst or Personal Folders file used for everything (email, calendar, contacts, tasks & more) in Outlook gets corrupted, damaged, or otherwise negatively affected on a seemingly regular basis.

you can use “Inbox Repair Tool” from Microsoft to repair the corrupted .pst file.

The Outlook ScanPst.exe .PST Recovery Tool

To get at it, you’ll need to navigate to this path using Windows Explorer:

For Outlook XP & 2003: Hard Drive Letter:\Program Files\Common Files\System\MSMAPI\LocaleID (which is 1033 for the USA or similar)

For Outlook 2007: Hard Drive Letter:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\OFFICE12Now, inside this folder, you’re looking for this particular setup file: “Scanpst.exe” .

When you run the .exe, you’ll need to Browse… to your current .pst file and hit Start.

The Inbox Repair Tool will now scan the corrupted .PST file for errors. Once the repair finishes, Outlook creates a “Recovered” version of your .pst file. Now you can use Outlook to open this “Recovered” version of .pst file to recover the items inside.

Error: The connected state of Office Add-Ins registered in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE cannot be changed.

This happens if the Office application you’re using is running under standard privileges, and hence cannot modify the Add-In startup state in the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE registry hive.

Windows Vista

To resolve the problem, start the Office application elevated. To do so, right-click on the Office application shortcut and choose Run as Administrator. Then open the Add-Ins dialog to enable or disable the registered Office Add-In.

Windows XP

Logon to an administrator account and then launch the Office application. Once the Add-In is enabled/disabled, logoff from the administrator account and proceed to your user account.

Outlook suddenly stop showing Pictures

Problem: Users reported that the Outlook suddently stop showing pictures within e-mail.

Environment: Windows XP, Outlook 2003, Exchange 2003

Solution:

There are couple of places you can check which related to showing pictures within e-mails.

1. Outlook – Tools – Options – Security – Download Pictures – Change Automatic Download Settings.

This option is the default behaviors for showing pictures in Outlook. By default, Outlook blocked the links to external servers for pictures. This is useful to control displaying pictures within external e-mails like monthly newsletters etc. 

2. Issue has to do with the Outlook Temporary Items folder. It applied to this case for users suddenly couldn’t see any pictures within e-mails.
