Can I Use Malwarebytes, And Avg Free Edition At The Same Time ?

I recently had a nasty little drive by download of a worm on my pc. I had to do a few things to get rid of it. I got this in between stages of switching anti-virus programs. So I scanned and removed all spy-ware and trojan down-loaders from my hard drive with AVG but then had to use malwarebytes to remove the worm (actually a fake worm trying to get me to download, buy, and install more spyware). I know you can’t and shouldn’t use two anti virus programs together, but is malwarebytes considered an anti-virus program, and would the two clash ?
