I need to fix my PC. There is some sort of trojan downloader program running in the task manager called LOL with a generic program box icon. Going to the process, it’s called liveonline_308 with some more numbers after that, can’t remember what they are. I have read about this LOL.exe and it supposedly has been known by other ‘program’ names and capable of rewriting a number of registry keys.
Anyway, Spybot Search & Destroy and AVG anti-virus got rid of it once in safe mode. It came back. Anti-virus doesn’t detect it now even though the process still runs when I start the system up. Anti-spyware doesn’t detect it. I’ve tried Spybot S&D again, SUPERAntispyware, and Lavasoft’s AdAware (which on a full system scan) stays stuck about 7 minutes on scanning a registry key – don’t know if that’s the problem or not.
I’ve tried looking it up on the internet and everything I’ve read so far says to delete the value in the registry edit which I can still get to. Yet when I look in the registry for the value that Symantec says to delete, it’s not there. So where is it? I’ve tried using search to find lol.exe and it comes back with nothing.
I’ve currently got the PC in safe mode.
I thought the worm was W32.HLLW.Reckus. But maybe it’s not because I can’t seem to find it anywhere. Many sites say to delete entries that end in CurrentVersion/Run and similar sounding entries. Should I?
What else can I do?
Should I try doing a system restore next since I can’t seem to find it or, are there other ways of searching for it first that doesn’t sound like I’ve tried yet?

i need a list of programs that are best in removing these all together or separate, doesnt matter….

Hi and thanks for clicking…Lately my computer has been slow as hell and I have run virus scans and stuff…
I have AVG 7.5 [for anti-virus] and Ad-Aware 2007 [for spyware] I have run both numerous times, AVG does not detect anything and Ad-Aware does not detect anything MAJOR, just some cookies that are adding up…. One thing that is bugging me is that whenever I open Internet Explorer, It keeps “Not Reponding” … those with Windows share this pain with me… [and yes I have de-fragged...but it analyzes the disks, scans and de-frags...but then says "Your computer could be improved, analyzes again and repeats over and over]
Here is my Computer Criteria:
Toshiba Satellite Notebook with Windows Vista Home Premium…On it I have AIM 5.9 and 6.0, Yahoo Messenger, Skype, AVG and Ad-Aware, iTunes, the whole Microsoft Office bundle and some Ativa software for my wireless stuff…
So any ideas? Do I have a worm or a trojan horse? How can I get rid of it if Ad-Aware is not detecting it?

I let my neighbor’s son use my computer and he downloaded limewire, kazaa, bearshare, without my consent and now I have a stinking disease on my computer that do not want to leave, even McAfee can’t help me after 4 full scans. Whatever this disease is seems to be hiding on my computer. I bought and downloaded one anti-spyware that couldn’t even find this thing and lost money. I just now prefer to use something free and effective. PLEASE, if you know something that is GOOD at detecting those smart-*** viruses that hides on your computer please let me know. I would like something FREE since I wasted money on a anti-spyware that turned out to be weak and light-weight.
P.S.- This stinking virus is so bad it’s affecting my current Anti-virus software, and it even blocks the downloads of other anti-spywares that I attempt to download. Thanks!

When I turned my computer on it seemed to load up just fine but suddenly the background changed to a black one that said… Warning your computer is infected with spyware ..then a window pops up doin a random scan from a “anti virus” program than I haven’t installed saying there’s all of these trojan horses and worms on my hard drive..then it prompts me to buy software to”fix” it..it won’t let me open my programs or access parts of controll panel because they’re “infected” so I can’t do a system restore ..I tried download antiviris software that others have recommend but when it starts to run the installion process its not allowed cuz its already infected..I also can’t restart in Safe Mode …running out of options here so if ANYONE can help I will really apprieciate it
